Open Call for Young Writer/Curator Fellowship with TAAS

About A4A and the Fellowship:
Art For Art (A4A) is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a young writer/aspiring curator to join the prestigious A4A X TAAS Fellowship Program from September 1st, 2025 to December 31st, 2025. This fellowship is a unique collaboration between Art For Art Foundation and The Alternative Art School  (TAAS) https://thealternativeartschool.net/home/about-taas/, aimed at empowering the next generation of curators and writers by providing access to international resources and mentorship.

The selected fellow will gain exposure to a global art community by attending curatorial talks, workshops, and programs and contributing to A4A’s ongoing residency programs. This opportunity is designed for emerging voices eager to deepen their practice in the fields of curation, writing, and contemporary art.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected fellow will:

  • Participate in TAAS’s Curatorial Talks & Workshops: Gain firsthand experience by attending all relevant curatorial talks, workshops, and programs held by TAAS.

  • Document and Reflect: Write reports and reflections based on their learnings, documenting the curatorial talks, workshops, and residency activities.

  • Coordinate A4A Residency Program 2025: Assist with the coordination and management of A4A’s mentorship and residency programs, including supporting curatorial initiatives and liaising with artists.

  • Curate A4A’s Open Day: The fellow will play a pivotal role in curating or co-curating A4A’s open day event, learning the ins and outs of exhibition curation.

  • Social Media Contribution: Engage with A4A’s social media platforms by sharing insights, updates, and reports to enhance the fellowship’s visibility and impact.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Open to young writers, curators, and those aspiring to pursue a career in curatorial practice. Age preference: 22–35 years.

  • Experience: While prior curatorial experience is not required, applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in contemporary art, curatorial practice, and/or art writing.

  • Academic Background: A background in art history, curatorial studies, cultural studies, or a related field is desirable but not essential.

  • Language: Proficiency in English is required for communication and documentation.

Application Process:

  • Application Deadline: July 31st, 2025

  • How to Apply: Please submit a statement of purpose (500 words) outlining your interest in the fellowship, your career aspirations, and how you believe this opportunity will help you grow as a writer/curator. Include a curriculum vitae (CV), and portfolio of past curatorial work or writing (if applicable).

  • Submit Your Application: All applications must be submitted via the Google Form (Click Here to Apply) by July 31st, 2025.

Selection Process:

  • A panel of mentors from A4A will review all applications.

  • Five shortlisted candidates will be selected by the end of July 2025, and these will be presented to Amber Imrie and TAAS for final selection.

  • The final fellow will be announced by mid-August 2025, and the fellowship will commence on September 1st, 2025.

Terms and Conditions:

  • This fellowship is non-remunerative.

  • The fellow must commit to attending all scheduled curatorial talks, workshops, and A4A residency events.

  • The fellow must adhere to deadlines and communicate regularly with A4A staff and mentors.
